Fox Network has a special surprise planned for its viewers, the one-time mashup of its two most of its successful animation series, “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy,” in a special one-hour episode that is going to see the two iconic families, the Simpsons and the Griffins pair for a series of misadventures.

The special will bear the title “The Simpsons Guy,” a mixture of both the titles, and it's going to follow Peter Griffin and his family taking a trip to Springfield where they all get to meet and become friends with the Simpsons. The Daily Mail reports that script writers have decided to pair Stewie with Bart uniting them in their passion for skateboarding, Meg and Lisa who find an odd friend in one another and Lois with Marge as they decide to turn their backs on household chores together.

Initially, Homer and Peter are the best of friends, but as time goes by they become increasingly antagonistic towards each other, and finally they end up fighting one another, similar to a recurring gag in “Family Guy” in which Peter fights with a giant chicken called Ernie.

This isn't the first time that Seth MacFarlane, creator of “Family Guy” takes a direct swipe at the long-running “Simpsons” animation that has reached cult status since first airing in the late ‘80s.

Fans of both series are sure to get a kick out of this one so stay tuned for the special airing this fall.
