The Simpsons: Hit and Run is just two days from launch. Although the world isn't exactly going up in flames at the sound of the game's title, Electronic Arts has launched a countdown website similar to Rockstar's when they were prepping the launch for the GTA IV Debut Trailer. Stuff like this cracks one up, I'll give them that.

The Simpsons Hit & Run sounds quite nifty as third-person action adventure game, especially if we're to take into consideration positive reaction followed by its announcement. The game is based on the animated sitcom The Simpsons.

The game will have 7 stages involving somewhat mundane events, such as getting Homer Simpson to work on time (at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant), or retrieving items from various locations. However, the plot soon thickens, as the story mode focuses on more strange happenings throughout Springfield.

Playable characters throughout the game are Homer Simpson, Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson, Marge Simpson and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. Don't check if I spelled that correctly, please. Each of the five drives a vehicle which you may be familiar with if you're a fan of the show. Other characters can drive your car though, while you sit in the passenger seat (Waylon Smithers and Professor Frink).

OK, that's it, I don't want to spoil it for you; the game launches in just under two days. We'll see what everyone has to say after that. As for the countdown site, sorry to disappoint you, but it looks like they've taken it out. I'm not sure, but the link on 1UP is the only one I found and that one doesn't show any countdown timer.
