Developer Blue Byte and publisher Ubisoft announce that they are working on a new title in the Settlers series, called Kingdoms of Anteria, but they are unwilling to offer any details about the gameplay or the story of the title yet.

The reveal trailer is pretty and uses high quality graphics to depict both a combat sequence and more familiar building mechanics, but there are limited clues about the way the two companies are aiming to expand the scope of the classic series.

Ubisoft states, “The Settlers - Kingdoms of Anteria will provide a completely new game experience by combining city building and real time strategy action. You will build up a prosperous economy and lead your champion through dangerous adventures in order to create a wealthy, bustling and glorious kingdom.”

The Settlers – Kingdoms of Anteria does not currently have a launch window and it’s unclear whether the game will be a classic retail release or if it will use a free-to-play system.

The franchise has long had a dedicated fan base and the seventh full title was launched by the same two companies in 2010.

At the moment, a browser-based Settlers Online experience is available, but the community has criticized it for its limited gameplay.
