The development team at Blue Byte and publisher Ubisoft are ready to deliver some more details on the coming The Settlers – Kingdoms of Anteria, which is set to be launched before the end of the year on the PC.

The game is designed to honor the persistent city building roots of the series, while also introducing some real time strategic actions for players to enjoy, challenging them to create a solid economic base that runs smoothly before sending a range of champions to chase adventures that can deliver interesting rewards.

An official blog entry explains that gamers can "Build a bigger kingdom than ever before as you create strong production chains and a powerful economy to unlock new upgrades and sectors. Take on fierce foes in tactical battles to help you earn resources and loot. You’ll be able to choose the champion class and skill set that best suits you and bring him or her with you onto the field."

The company also says that the solo campaign will be complemented by an entirely new cooperative mode which allows a player to partner with up to three other gamers in order to explore Anteria and collect loot as more areas are discovered and more enemies are vanquished.

Playing with other humans apparently increases the opportunities to trade resources and can lead to the development of a better economy in The Settlers – Kingdoms of Anteria.

Ubisoft adds, "If you are attending Gamescom in Cologne, Germany (August 13 to August 17), you’ll be able to check out The Settlers – Kingdoms of Anteria at the Ubisoft business booth in hall 6.1 at stand B020. Fans who are unable to attend but just can’t wait to try out the game will be able to hop into the closed beta very soon."

The Settlers – Kingdoms of Anteria will apparently exist alongside the already released browser title based on the same franchise, although it is unlikely that the two will interact in any way.

At the moment, Ubisoft is not saying exactly when the new strategy experience will be launched and whether there are plans to deliver it on platforms other than the classic PC.

The Settlers – Kingdoms of Anteria seems to have some cool ideas, but it's unlikely that long-term fans of the series will be impressed by the new ideas unless they get more details about the complexity of the economic system and the range of options that they can use to create their perfect settlement.
