If you thought that the Google print project was revolutionary, then you haven't seen anything yet.

The Bible Society organization in Australia came to the conclusion that it wouldn't be such a bad idea to offer religious users the possibility to receive all 31.173 verses via SMS.

Those who are familiar with the original version of the Bible might be surprised of the new SMS version, because it has been adapted to the language used in the cell phones messaging.

For example: "In da Bginnin God cre8d da heavens & da earth. Da earth waz barren, wit no 4m of life; it waz unda a roaring ocean cuvred wit dRkness. (Genesis, chapter 1, verses 1-2)".

Or :"Respect ur father & ur mother, & u will live a long time in da l& I am givin u. (Exodus, chapter 20, verse 12)".

The translation, if you can call it that way, took four weeks and was a carried out by a single person.

Michael Chant, spokesperson for the Bible Society in Australia, considers that this way of spreading the Bible is very convenient, considering that the SMS is being adopted by an increasing number of people.

Since a SMS message costs approximately 20 cents and 30,000 messages are needed in order to make the final version, it turns out that the SMS Bible costs around $6,000. The same version is available for free on the Internet.
