The Rolling Stones Tell Off Wino

- Keith Richards warns: Amy Winehouse could die very soon

By: Monica Gaza, Entertainment News Editor

When Keith Richards tells you you'll be dead soon, it's probably best if you listen. Of course, few ordinary mortals have the chance to hear one of the living legends of rock'n'roll mention their names specifically, but given the fact that this time it was not some extravagant praise
but something close to a death sentence, it may not come across as too flattering in the end. Still, Keith Richards is as close to a rock god as we'll ever meet, and the very fact that he knows Amy Winehouse by name is saying a lot. The formerly-troubled singer has reached out to the currently troubled jazz diva and warned her that unless she curbs her notorious drug habit, it could all be over very soon for her.

The Rolling Stones singer was asked which modern artists (if any) he rated, and his reply was that "there’s only one person. That girl Amy [Winehouse]. Mind you, that girl isn’t going to be around long unless she sorts herself out pretty quick. Amy’s got to get smart", Richards said. He also admitted that he doesn't expect Amy to actually listen to his advice. "I’m not a preacher. But I’ve been there and you have to pass it on", he added. Or course, Richards would be the one to know about drug abuse – after all, he was notorious for it during the band's crazy glory days and has had his own share of trouble as a result of indulging in deadly substances with brain-altering potential.

The singer also revealed that when his band was being investigated by the police in the 1970s (also for drug abuse), the unwanted attention strongly influenced their professional activities. "It completely took over our lives creatively and we couldn’t do this and couldn’t do that. You had to spend all your time trying to deal with the police. The same thing has happened to Amy Winehouse", he added. As you may know, Amy has had several run-ins with the law and was even arrested abroad for possession of marijuana. Her husband has been lingering in jail for several months, and she was also under investigation as a potential accomplice. She was eventually cleared of all charges – for now.
