Senator Liberman gets involved as well

After Senator Hillary Clinton made a public request for a federal investigation targeting the pornographic content unlocked by the HotCoffee mod in Grand Theft Auto, another American Senator will get involved in this scandal.

According to Reuters, Joseph Lieberman, a Connecticut Senator, asked Sam Houser, the president of Rockstar Games, to agree to an independent investigation in order to clarify the origin of the pornographic scenes within Grand Theft Auto.

The latest title of the Grand Theft Auto franchise is currently investigated by the ESRB, who wants to establish whether the M rating initially granted to the game is accurate or it should be changed.

Senator Lieberman hasn't pointed out what independent organization he was referring to when he said that Houser should voluntarily submit his game to a supplementary technical analysis. In the same time, Senator Hillary Clinton requested the passing of a federal bill banning the selling of games having sexual or violent content to the minors, the punishment for breaking this law being a 5,000 dollars fine.

All these initiatives proposed by Clinton and Liberman could undermine ESRB's authority, thus completely changing the current rating system.

Another game that could be affected by what's happening now to Rockstar Games could be 25 To Life. Just two weeks ago, Senator Charles Schumer requested that this game should be banned and asked Microsoft and Sony not to get involved in supporting, promoting or selling the game.
