While most of the high-end desktop computer systems are now coming nowadays with HD DVD features, this is not the case on the mobile computing market as only a handful of products from several companies are able to field such claims. Such a product that comes with a HD DVD unit as a standard is the Xtreme 770 laptop built by the Rock company to be the ultimate gaming and multimedia supporting machine.

The Rock Xtreme 770 mobile computing device comes powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo mobile central processing unit that is paired with the Intel mobile Santa Rosa platform and a large widescreen display backed up by the presence of a discrete graphics card centered around a Nvidia graphics processing unit that offers native hardware support for the latest Microsoft DirectX 10.0 specifications.

On the hardware specifications side, the Xtreme 770 notebook allows users to select a really powerful central processing unit, going as high as the Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 processor that runs at 2.4Ghz and has 4Mb of L2 cache memory. The 17-inch widescreen LCD display is perfect for offering the ultimate gaming or multimedia experience as it supports a native resolution of 1680 by 1050 pixels and it can be upgraded to a display that supports an impressive 1920x1200. To back up this large display the Xtreme 770 mobile computing system comes with a discrete graphics card powered by a Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT graphics processing unit that has 512MB of dedicated video memory.

Up to 4GB of DDR2 random access memory running at 800MHz are also available while the presence of a 7200rpm hard disk drive that is 33 percent faster than similar solution using the 5400rpm setting, will take care of all the important user files. A high definition DVD combo unit that supports Dual Layer optical discs is provided as a standard feature of this notebook as well as the integrated fingerprint reader that adds a measure of security. An optionally available TV tuner card allows users to view and record their preferred TV shows and episodes, while the Intel wireless networking card that supports the latest standards is paired with the Gigabit 10/100/1000 wired interface in order to provide a complete connectivity solution.

On the expansion side, the Rock notebook is coming with a FireWire port as well as four high speed USB 2.0 connectors and a COM port too while the presence of a Bluetooth adapter allows users to link a great number of devices to this mobile computing platform. Additionally users are able to transfer files from memory cards thanks to the integrated 7 in 1 card reader and a number of useful software applications are bundled with this machine too.

Among the accompanying applications there are Roxio Creator 7, Microsoft Works 8.5 and Microsoft Office 2007 as well as a pre-installed version of the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows Vista.
