So says screenwriter

The Gears of War franchise has shattered sales records and really brought the Xbox 360 to center stage in console gaming before the appearance of Halo 3. It won over a big amount of fans who were eagerly anticipating Gears of War 2, when it was released in autumn last year.

Now, in an effort to capitalize some more on those fans, a movie adaptation of the franchise is in the making, as we've heard recently. But even though things have been quite clear on how the title will begin production as soon as the script is ready, we haven't heard anything about the actors that will portray the characters of the game, the members of Delta Squad.

Now, screenwriter Chris Morgan has talked with MTV and has revealed that it is a very tough choice, as, although Marcus Fenix and his other teammates may seem quite simple, they are going through some complex changes throughout the action of the games and of the movie, so choosing an actor can be very hard.

“Normally when I write, I think about the actor I’m writing for, but this one’s been difficult. It is a vital casting choice. It’s counter-intuitive really, because it seems like you want to get a big character — a big tough guy who can play it stoic the whole time but it’s harder to play the tough guy than an emotional character who’s all over the place,” said Morgan.

But if he were to pick a character, it would be former pro-wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who has already starred in quite a few movies. “The Rock is awesome. There’s a genuine actor. Not only can he play the tough guy, but he can also play the nuanced, sensitive funny sad moments as well. But finding that guy is incredibly difficult.”

So it definitely seems that we might get to see the former wrestler play Marcus Fenix in the near future. But who do you think should play the leader of Delta Squad? Leave us a comment with your choice.
