Doctors say she might have had the procedure to take years off her face

Madonna has always been the kind of entertainer that never failed to surprise the audiences, be it with her music or her public persona. The singer proves equally surprising as to her ability to maintain her youthful looks, while, at the same time, no one is able to name exactly the kind of procedure she might have had to get her there. Grazia magazine spoke to Beverly Hills surgeons to find out just what Madonna could have done to her face to look so good, and the answer is a new technique called the “ribbon lift.”

Of course, this is pure speculation, but all signs seem to be pointing into the direction that the singer actually went for the procedure, especially since she was photographed a few days before the Oscars showing signs of it. As plastic surgeon Alex Karidis explains, the ribbon lift is a 30-minute intervention whose effect lasts up to three years and which looks considerably more natural than a regular face lift.

The procedure costs around $6,000, Karidis adds, and uses a “dissolvable ribbon implant to lift neck tissues through a short incision around the earlobe.” Two months after the implant is in place, the ribbon dissolves and no sign of the procedure is visible anymore. Since Madonna was photographed with what looked like an incision only days before the Oscars, where she stunned audiences with her glowing, youthful complexion, it is believed she might have had this minor help in looking so great.

“[A tube-like device] is tunneled under the skin and has lots of tiny hooks that attach to the muscle and tissue. We then pull it upwards to lift the whole area. It doesn’t appear as if the ribbon has dissolved properly [in the photo]. However, she looks to have cleverly covered it with a loose hairstyle at the Oscars party.” Karidis points out for Grazia magazine.

Speculation about Madonna having had work done on her face to keep her good looks has surfaced before. This is, however, the first time when someone can actually say the type of procedure she might have had. The singer, on her behalf, has never told she was opposed to plastic surgery, but she did mention once that, quote, “I am absolutely against having to discuss it.”
