14 DAY TRIAL // They were one of the oddest couples in Hollywood, and when they first started out together, people didn't give them a long future. But Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon proved everyone wrong and managed to stick by each other's side year after year. Until now.
Last month the first cracks in their otherwise impeccable facade started to show, and it wasn't long until the dreaded divorce rumors started to emerge. It took Nick Cannon the better part of a month to respond to the rumors, but when he did so, he was unequivocal – he still loved Mariah.
Of course, that didn't stop Carey from getting her affairs in order and drawing up the divorce papers. So, what could have driven these two apart? InTouch claims to have the answer and it's not a pretty one, since both parties are at fault for the split.
First, there's Mariah, who has often been accused, both in private and in public, of being a diva in the worst sense of the word, being out of touch with reality and making constant outrageous demands. Then, there's Nick, who allegedly can't help but cheat on his wife. Together, these issues have eroded their marital bliss.
“There’s been nonstop fighting — the joy is gone,” says one insider. “Nick is worried about Mariah’s stability and can no longer watch her drinking champagne until she’s slurring her words, while Mariah is tired of being married to a man she thinks is a cheater,” it is explained to us.
As a result, Nick has been taking jobs to keep him far away from home, while Mariah has been roasting with the children back home, drinking herself into a depressive state until the early hours of the morning.
It turns out that Mariah wasn't so thrilled about the fact that Cannon kept DJing in clubs and getting close to single beautiful women, “Nick would say he wants to provide for his family and not rely on Mariah’s money.” But Mariah saw through his ruse, “When Mariah loses her temper, she yells, throws dishes and slams doors. She has crazy mood swings and goes off on rants that scare everyone,” the insider reveals.
There were reports that Mariah went to the trouble of hiring extra assistants and bodyguards to keep an eye on Nick while he was away “working,” and their job was to basically keep other women away from him. Nick has denied these claims on social media earlier this week, blasting the tabloids for making up lies.
However, he has still failed to appear in public with his wife and children and thus indicate that their marriage is, as he claims it to be, as happy as it was when it first started.
