Now it’s just the time to catch up on your reading, specifically on Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories. A new trailer for “The Raven,” in which John Cusack plays the famous writer, has just been released.

The film tells the story (albeit a fictionalized one) of Poe’s final days, as he engages in a deadly chase for a mystery murderer who draws inspiration for his heinous crimes from Poe’s short stories.

It also stars Luke Evans and Alice Eve opposite Cusack, and is directed by James McTeigue, who also directed “V for Vendetta,” and has done extensive work on all “Matrix” movies.

The film doesn’t come out until 2012, but the trailer offers a good taste at what fans have coming at them: a dark, somber thriller that is not, thank God, released in 3D.
