The battle between who gets Kate and William for the holidays has begun, The Queen is winning so far

The Daily Mail claims that The Queen hasn't yet sent out an invitation to the Middletons for the Christmas lunch at Sandringham Palace. It seems that the matriarch is trying to boycott Kate's family after last year they got to spend Christmas with Kate and Will and the Queen did not.

The British newspaper is calling this move “the battle of the turkeys” and it looks like there's some resentment between the Queen and the Middletons who have never seen eye to eye.

The Queen is making efforts to keep the Middletons out of the Christmas holiday celebrations at the Palace

“It is highly unlikely that Kate’s family will be invited to the big Christmas lunch, or the famous Boxing Day shoot. Perhaps one day they will be invited to the big house for tea, but not for lunch or dinner, and not on Christmas Day,” says one palace insider.

“The Queen is fond of Kate and doesn’t mean to exclude her family – indeed she has broken many of the old rules for them in the past. But if all of her children and grandchildren’s wives had their families to lunch, there wouldn’t be enough room, even at Sandringham House’s dining room,” adds the same source.

Kate and Will are still working on their new home in Anmer Hall

The reason why Kate and William are going to spend Christmas lunch with the rest of the royals is because Anmer Hall, where the couple will be moving soon as the Queen has gifted the property to them, is currently undergoing renovations. Anmer Hall is just a stones-throw away from Sandringham so the two families are bound to bond.

The residence has been under extensive renovations for two years now and it's been speculated that the work is going to continue well into 2015, but it also needs to be ready pretty soon as Kate and William have just announced that the new baby is going to be born in April 2015.

The work mainly revolved around the kitchen and on fitting the mansion with modern living accommodations. The Crown has received some backlash over the price tag, which is said to be around several million pounds already. The fact that several other millions went into renovating Kensington Palace and now the royal couple is moving out of that, has sparked further scandal with the local media.

Now it looks as if the Queen is keen to have the young couple settled in, but not so keen as to invite Kate's family. This is a big slap in the face for them, but it's also part of the formal etiquette and the royal tradition, which the Queen is known to abide by.
