Television has changed a lot during the past decades, and especially during the past few years, as more and more people are adopting various TV-on-the-go solutions, due to the fast-paced lives they lead. The aforementioned solutions include just about anything you might think of, from 3G handsets to 1Seg TV tuners to dedicated mobile television devices, but also a little device known rather for its entertainment purposes, namely Sony's portable gaming console, the famous PSP. And that's why the people from Onkyo are announcing a special brand of media recorder that can save any television program in a PSP-compatible file.

The first thing that draws the attention to the Wavio VR-1000J (as the recorder has been dubbed) is its very special, pyramidal shape. It's like a black, alien object that has landed onto Earth and now brings happiness to all the PSP owners. Ok, leaving the more....poetic description aside, the device includes some pretty interesting functions, as it is capable of recording video clips on either SD or MS memory cards in 3GPP, 3GPP2, ASF or MP4 formats. Here is a list of the most important features and specifications the device from Onkyo has to offer:

- dimensions: 151 x 156 x 59 mm; - weight: 238 grams; - video input: Composite video; - audio input: Stereo RCA; - video recording format: MPEG4; - audio recording format: G.726, AMR and AAC; - types of resulted files: 3GPP (NTT DoCoMo), 3GPP2, ASF, MP4; - video resolution: 320 X 240; - compatible with : MS and SD memory cards.

The Onkyo recorder will be made available in Japan starting December 25th, for a yet undisclosed price, and I'm pretty sure it will become really popular really fast, especially considering its level of utility.
