Owners of Android-based devices can now enjoy the features of the most successful two-player strategy board game in Ireland, namely The Power Game.

The title was pushed to the Google Play Store by Atom Split Games and Brian McCarthy as a reboot of the popular 1970’s game, with a price tag of €1.99 ($2.74) attached to it.

In this game, users will have to use their imagination to create a chain of cogs to defeat their opponent and win the game.

The title is easy to learn, yet its developers also note that it might prove hard to master. All in all, it should prove a great option for those who enjoy chess-like games.

In the title, players control two rows of opposing cogs, and are required to move their cogs around the board in order to turn their opponent’s “master gear” clockwise.

There are three game modes included in the title, namely a single-player mode against the three difficulties of AI, a two-player mode, and an online multiplayer mode.

The multiplayer mode will allow users to gain experience and increase their rank as they aspire to become a Power Game Master. An in-depth tutorial to help new players learn the game is also available.

Those who choose to purchase the app will receive full access to the entire game, but there are also a series of optional micro-transactions that enable users to earn or purchase additional backgrounds, cogs and master gears.

The Power Game also comes with a “shock-proof” micro-transactions model, so that players could make a one-off purchase that would disable additional acquisitions and would also offer them unlimited bolts to spend on player customizations.

“I am delighted to see The Power Game on Android, the largest mobile platform in the world. The game lends itself very well to both mobile and tablets, and I’m really happy that the game recreates, and improves, my original board game design,” Brian McCarthy, the game’s inventor, said.

“We have taken a huge amount of learning from our launch on Windows 8 in September, and this improved version of the game is ready to challenge players around the world,” Atom Split Games CEO James Daly, commented.

The new Android-based game has landed in the Google Play store with support for all devices running under Android 2.3.3 and up.
