Hammacher Schlemmer, a retailer of luxury goods, is selling a peculiar media player. The thing, dubbed the Portable Video iPod Enlarger and DVD Player, is mainly intended to play DVDs on the go but also to act as a video iPod "enlarger".

You can dock a 30, 60 or 80 GB iPod video device into the back, allowing you to watch iPod videos on a 7-inch, 16:9 widescreen LCD that is 2 ? times larger than the iPod's screen.

Using active matrix technology (eh?), the LCD can redraw images faster than typical LCD monitors. This means you'll get sharper, more detailed 480 X 234 pixel resolution (that's what they say). Your iPod can be placed in the back of the player behind a clear plastic cover. If you reach the conclusion that your video iPod is stuck in the back of this device, keep your chin up. You can still use it, eh?

And if you happen to travel with your ma', there's no need to worry! The dual headphone jacks will let her catch the rythm too. The device has an AV port for output of video to a television and an on-screen menu display for quick set up. It can even charge your iPod while in use.

The rechargeable battery allows 2 ? hours of continuous playback on a full charge. It comes with AC and DC adapters, carrying case, headphones, remote control and a strap for attaching it to a car headrest.

The Portable Video iPod Enlarger and DVD Player supports DVD, VCD, CDs, MP3 CDs and iPod video/music files. The device retails for 249, 95$ and it's available for immediate shipment.
