One of the biggest problems faced mostly by tourists visiting foreign countries is that of counterfeit money. You're not used to the respective bills, and that's why you can easily pick one up, either from a person with criminal intentions or from someone as innocent as yourself, only to have later on the very unpleasant surprise that your money is rejected at the bank, stores with counterfeit money detection systems or automatic change dispenser machines. And that's the reason why the Rakuten company from Japan is selling the device you're about to see as follows, namely the 2-in-1 Mini Money Detector.

This very portable and useful system uses 2 different technologies in order to detect the counterfeit bills. The first one is ultraviolet radiation detection, at by pushing the corresponding button, one can see whether the security elements usually printed with UV sensible ink are there or not, and therefore spot fake bills immediately. The second technology is magnetic detection, which checks for the presence of metallic security elements (generally a thin metallic wire) or of magnetic ink, usually used for the numeric parts, the device emitting a loud buzz when said elements are discovered.

According to the manufacturers, the 2-in-1 Mini Money Detector works with just about any bill, whether we're talking about US dollars, European Euro, Hong Kong dollars or Chinese bills. Moreover, it's quite small (just 8.8cm in length), works with 4 LR44 batteries and can be very easily worn as an accessory around the neck, as it sports a 38cm neck-strap. The device is available for just 14 US dollars, which is an extremely small amount to pay for avoiding some pretty big problems while traveling abroad.
