The problem of a separate domain for the pornographic websites was launched a long time ago, but it was quickly denied because numerous websites were opposing to the idea. The reason is simple: a new domain name means an important loss of visitors, traffic and money. This time it seems like the pornographic companies and the religious organizations from every corner of the world are making great efforts to create a separate domain for the adult websites, a decision being scheduled for the next week.

BusinessWeek reported that The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number received a lot of suggestions to create a new domain name especially for the websites displaying adult material and meant to protect Internet users from the pornographic content. It seems like the .XXX domain is the main candidate but the organization said a decision will be announced next week.

"One of the criteria is that it (must) have general support among the industry it's supposed to serve, and it does not. I have not met one single webmaster or adult video producer that is in favor of `.xxx,' and I've met a lot of them," said Mark Kernes, a board member with the industry trade group Free Speech Coalition according to BusinessWeek.

The announcement comes after just a week since Korea reported a case concerning Yahoo, the owner of the well-known Internet portal. At that time, a website owned by Yahoo Korea displayed a porn clip that was available for almost 6 hours for all users without registration. Today, the Korean authorities informed they are currently working on a new set of laws to block all the foreign websites displaying adult material, a decision meant to protect children from the avalanche of pornographic websites coming from the entire Internet.
