Like Punxsutawney Phil before her, Disney princess Elsa is now in serious trouble with the law. The police are out to get her, and should they track her down and take her into custody, she will undoubtedly end up behind bars.

Then again, it's safe to assume that, what with her ability to control the weather and make snow or ice appear out of thin air on demand, Elsa does not really have anything to worry about. After all, it's not like she would have such tough time breaking free from jail.

Why the police want to arrest Queen Elsa of Arandelle

Let's face is, Elsa is pretty much everybody's favorite Disney princess right about now, so why would the cops be out looking for this delightful young lady? What could she have possible done to deserve being incarcerated?

Well, it appears that, these past few days, the city of Harlan in Kentucky, US, has been battling insanely low temperatures. We're talking dozens of degrees below zero, that's how cold it has been in this corner of the world.

With nobody else to blame for this cold snap, officers with the Harlan Police Department decided to point the finger at Queen Elsa of Arrandelle and issue a warrant for her arrest. That's right, Elsa stands accused of plunging the city of Harlan in the bitterest cold that ever was.

“HPD has issued an arrest warrant for Queen Elsa of Arendelle. Suspect is a blonde female last seen wearing a long blue dress and is known to burst into song ‘Let it Go!’ As you can see by the weather she is very dangerous. Do not attempt to apprehend her alone,” the police write in a Facebook post.

Fear not, this entire affair is just an innocent joke

As you've probably figured out, task forces aren't really combing Harlan, Kentucky, hoping to find princess Elsa and bring her to justice. In a nutshell, the news that the police had issued a warrant for the arrest of Arandelle's ruler was just an innocent joke.

However, it was not the pointless sort of shenanigan that some might be tempted to think. On the contrary, the Harlan Police Department accompanied their rather amusing announcement with warnings about how people should not forget to take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe during this week's cold snap.
