The '90s cult classic action movie “Point Break” is getting the remake treatment and, by all accounts, it's going to be at least as good as the original. After months of speculation and rumors, the cast for the main roles has been revealed and it looks promising.

If the name of Gerard Butler had already been linked with the project and comes as no big surprise at the point, the same can't be said for Luke Bracey, the man who has been taped to play the role of Special Agent Johnny Utah.

The role was played by Keanu Reeves in the original, but in this one it will fall upon Bracey to give a memorable performance. Bracey is known to cinema goers for his recent role in “G. I. Joe: Retaliation.”

He will be playing opposite “Olympus Has Fallen” star Gerard Butler, who will be replacing the late Patrick Swayze in the role of adrenaline junkie and surf guru Bodhi. Work is still in the early stages of the production process, so details are sketchy.

The director chosen to complete the movie is Ericson Core, the man responsible for “Invincible,” “The Fast and the Furious” and “Daredevil, The Movie.” The script is said to be written by Kurt Wimmer, who previously worked on “Salt” and the “Total Recall” reboot.

The only plot detail that has emerged is that the remake is going to take place in the international fast-paced world of extreme sports, which is being used as a cover for a crime ring. Agent Johnny Utah is sent in to infiltrate this medium to expose the crimes, according to Cinemablend.
