In May of this year Microsoft developers working on Internet Explorer 7 variant have announced that the browser application will result in two different products, explicitly IE7 and IE7+. With the release
of Windows Vista Beta 2, the version of IE7 in Windows Vista will be named Internet Explorer 7+. While all versions of IE7 are built from the same code base, there are some important differences in IE7+, most significantly the addition of Windows Vista-only features like Protected Mode, Parental Controls, and improved Network Diagnostics. These features take advantage of big changes in Windows Vista and werent practical to bring downlevel, stated Tony Chor, IE Group Program Manager.
This being the case, Microsoft even constructed Vista and Internet Explorer 7 as products that will not integrate with each other, the latest operating system from the Edmond Company offering support only for the embedded version of IE7.
Tony Chor announced today the US giant softwares plans have changed due to the negative feedback and the lack in popularity, related to the plus tailing behind the IE. Im pleased to announce that were switching the name back to Internet Explorer 7. No plus. No dot x. Just Internet Explorer 7. Specifically, here are the official full names: for Windows XP: and for Windows Vista: , revealed Chor on the IEblog.
