Finally some
Tekken 6 news. I was beginning to think Namco was dropping the PS3 exclusive. So what if the latest Tekken 6 news says there's a new, overweight character ridiculously named Bob, featuring the worst background in the history of the series' characters? At least
we're reminded that the
PS3 is still getting the game. Courtesy of Sdtekken.com, we've posted Bob's translated story below. The picture you see to the left is of course of... Bob! (I'm trying as hard as I can not to offend the character).
"With his toned body and handsome face he was very popular. However when he was unable to beat opponents who were larger than he was, Bob became determined to engineer his body to increase power and weight while maintaining speed. For this reason, Bob disappeared from the fighting world. A few years later after completing his body engineering, everyone around him is shocked at his appearance! Although people are not taking Bob seriously anymore, he is confident about his newfound strength. To test his newfound power he enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6."
Of course, Tekken was never much of a story-based fighting game, even though its developer tried making it seem that way. The Japanese surely understand its plot better than us Europeans, but everyone can agree that the Tekken series has a pretty dull storyline. Not to mention that the only time gamers really saw a story backing up the title was by the launch of the game's third installment.
However, if there's one thing that the Tekken series does have, it's characters - tons of them - just like a real fighting game should. And as far as fighting styles and character looks are concerned, the franchise got a 10+ in my book.
It has also been confirmed that Tekken 6 is set for a media showing in Tokyo on the 15th of September. Check back with us then to see what's new. Oh and Bob, better get yourself a pair of stronger shoulder straps 'cause you never know when those thin ones you're currently wearing might burst...
