Sony boss Kaz Hirai has emphasized that the next-generation PlayStation 4 is a video games console first, and then an entertainment device.
He pledges to the world that Sony will focus on releasing great games onto the console and then focus on delivering entertainment.
Microsoft disappointed quite a few gamers with its Xbox One announcement as, besides showing off a few different titles, like Call of Duty: Ghosts, it chose to focus more on entertainment, fact admitted by the company itself.
Sony's Kaz Hirai has pledged that the same thing won't happen with the PlayStation 4, as its main role is that of a games console, and that offering entertainment comes second.
"The most important thing we need to do is agree and understand that the PS4 is a great video game console that appeals to video gamers," he said, via CVG.
"If we miss that part, I don't think we get the initial establishment of the console. That formula has worked for us with all our consoles, including the PS3."
"Providing other non-game content is an area we will reveal and talk about in the coming months but it's first and foremost a video game console."
Both Sony and Microsoft are expected to focus on games at their E3 2013 events.
