Gaijin Entertainment, the developer of multiplayer flight simulator War Thunder, believes the PlayStation 4 is much more open than the Xbox One, as Sony is ready to support developers with new ideas or business models on its console.

Among the most intriguing PlayStation 4 games set to appear for the next-gen console is War Thunder, coming from Gaijin Entertainment.

The multiplayer combat flight simulator promises to deliver a variety of features on the PS4 and, more importantly, brings a free-to-play experience that can connect with the PC version, which is already in open beta.

This freedom drove Gaijin to bring War Thunder only on the PS4, as Sony's next-gen console is more developer-friendly than the Xbox One.

"Microsoft is a good partner of ours for a long time. Currently, Sony is more open and more actively looking for new game concepts, new business models and new titles than Microsoft. But things can change in the future – we potentially can go to any platform if the platform owner is not setting borders between our players," Gaijin's Anton Yudintsev told PSLS.

"Currently, Sony’s PS4 is the most open platform, open to allow us to find a way that War Thunder players can get their game on cross-platform which is really cool and something the industry has lacked for years. Sony’s guys really want to help us to make great game for our players and that means a lot when you are making a game for any console."

The Xbox One has already caused a negative reaction among independent developers because it requires smaller studios to find publishers for their games, if they want to bring them to the new console.

What's more, the ongoing confusion about the method of dealing with used games is also causing problems for gamers and developers.
