14 DAY TRIAL // Elizabeth Banks is familiar with the whole story and the characters behind “Pitch Perfect” because she was involved in the making of the movie. At the time, she produced and also co-starred in the surprise box office success.
Now, it's been revealed that the actress will be taking her seat behind the camera, on the director's chair, to bring out the sequel entitled “Pitch Perfect 2.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, Banks is looking to get the original actors on board for the continuation of the musical comedy.
“Elizabeth originated the idea for ‘Pitch Perfect’ and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success,” said Donna Langley, the Universal Pictures chairman.
“She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on, and we're thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2,” Langley goes on to say.
Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are said to be already on board for the sequel after starring in the original and rumors have singer Demi Lovato also joining the cast.
A release date for the film has yet to be announced, but it will more than likely be sometime in 2015.
