If you have never heard of it, Sealand is a World War 2 sea fort which now represents the territory of Prince Michael of Sealand. But what's more important is not the territory itself but the purpose of the country which serves as the host for numerous servers flagged as illegal in several parts of the world. Today, an article published on the official page of Sealand News informs us that the country is currently in talks with a Russian venture group for a potential communications satellite that might enhance the performance of the local servers and obviously help them reach their goals.

"This would give the independent micro-nation total worldwideI internet freedom and internationally un-restricted Internet broadcasting from the former military fortress would allow the realization of a number of exciting new projects," it is mentioned in the article.

Now, let's be honest. How many of you think that un-restricted Internet doesn't refer to software piracy and other type of illegal content? Even the owner of the land is somehow admitting this. "The Moscow-based venture group's propositions involves installing new high-capacity servers onto the micro-nation and launching a satellite to enable content to be delivered to the Internet with complete freedom and without political restriction, allowing freedom of speech, free downloads and file sharing," it is added in the article.

In case you didn't hear, Russia is one of the countries that didn't find the so long criticized AllOfMp3 service which distributed music content for very low prices in the entire world. At that time, numerous organizations joined their forces and sent the AllOfMp3 owner to the judge, accusing him of copyright infringement. However, the court ordered that he's not guilty for that as long as he paid the royalties to the local copyright organizations.

So, Russia is regarded as a country that hosts a considerable number of online based illegal activities and, a group from this nation wants to move to Sealand, the territory with no rules. Quite interesting, isn't it? Look what's saying a Sealand official who talked with the Russian group: "Total Freedom of speech and free use of the internet is the whole essence of this wonderful medium. The Sealand Satellite will be the greatest revolution since the dawn of the Internet!"
