FCC approved and heading to Cingular

Pantech is the single mobile phone manufacturer out there I will never be able to understand. Today they launch one of the best handsets on the market and the next day they launch the biggest mobile users nightmare.

The phone I'm going to write about here is not the nightmare I[ADMARk=1] aforementioned and we cannot consider it to be that way mainly because it doesn't have an attached spec sheet. Yet.

But... There is a thing that made me start this article the way I did. If you take a careful look at what the FCC photos show, you will surely have a vague idea that you've seen this device before.

I had it too and after a little bit of browsing my internal storage (to be read memory), some web hits on Samsung's website and a short look on Softpedia's Mobile area, I discovered why the Pantech C600 looked very familiar.

This cellphone has 98% of the Samsung X660's looks and, beside some changes on the keypad and moving the brand name above the camera lens, the C600 is X660's lost twin brother.

They didn't even add one single improvement to the design and, from the looks of it, this clamshell is probably going to be a big hit on the X660 fans with a desire for 3G flavor.

That is because the C600 has probably been intended to fill the spot left open by the Samsung handset and this is not a bad thing.

However, I'm waiting for the spec sheet to come to give you a better description of what this cellphone is capable of but, until then, as a comment I found on a mobile related website says: "Pantech, Samsung just called, they said they want their design back." (Thanks Jason for this one :) ).
