Last week, Sony's recently launched PlayStation Portable console caused a lot of excitement in the United States. Still, as nothing is perfect, despite promoting campaigns, preorder and order lists and generally positive reviews, the problem of dead pixels has been officially discussed by Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). Sony announced in a
press release its official position regarding the problem of dead pixels.
Because due to the problem of the dead pixels (either black pixels which are always off or light pixels which are always on), things were already starting to heat up on forums, SCEA came with an official statement.: "In the case of a very small number of dark pixels or light pixels, the users should not get alarmed because these symptoms are inherent to LCD monitor".
PSP manual states that: "Red, blue or green pixels may show up in certain areas of the display. This is not a malfunction of the console, the dead pixels should be considered inherent to LCD monitors". The presentation from the manual recommended preventing sun rays from reaching the monitor and avoiding the display of a static image for a long time.
If the users are having problems caused by dead pixels, the company suggests using the console for another week or so to convince themselves if those pixels hinder the playing of a game or viewing a movie. If this happens, users can use PSP's warranty contract.
