Crytek, the developer behind the Crysis series, has once again praised the PC platform, saying that it is one generation ahead of current home consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but, sadly, is being held back by developers that don't give it enough importance.

Crysis was exclusive for the PC, and made a name for itself by only working on high end machines, but now, Crytek is working on a sequel, Crysis 2, which will appear on home consoles like the PS3 or Xbox 360, as well as on the PC.

Now, the company's boss, Cevat Yerli, shared his thoughts on the PC not being the lead platform for many game developers, and how this results in a stagnation of the whole industry.

"PC is easily a generation ahead right now. With 360 and PS3, we believe the quality of the games beyond Crysis 2 and other CryEngine developments will be pretty much limited to what their creative expressions is, what the content is. You won't be able to squeeze more juice from these rocks."

According to the Crytek boss, developers are caught in a vicious circle, as they won't develop quality titles for the PC due to lack of sales, which are also due to the fact that titles that usually appear for the platform aren't on par with their console versions.

"I generally think it's still developers' mentality [that is to blame]," he added. "A lot nowadays don't consider PC a big issue any more; their [sales] expectations are nowhere near what they are for the console versions. Until the PC market creates comparable revenues, companies are not going to spend enough on the PC SKU of a game."

Crytek is among the few companies that still adamantly support PC gaming, and it's pretty safe to say that next year's Crysis 2 will deliver great performance on all platforms, but, depending on the PC configuration, will perform much better on it.

Crytek is Absolutely Right Pc is great. Pc can do such things that ps3 and xbox 360 cannot even think. Gameplay on the pc is extremly better than ps3 and xbox 360.
