The Owen Wilson Post-Suicide Madness Takes Off

I was actually wondering how long it was going to take before this kind of stories started being plastered all over the newspapers and the Internet. But honestly, Courtney Love speaking out was not on my top ten list of guesses for today, and neither were some of the things that came out of her mouth. What shocks me, actually, is the fact that in the end, it was one of Owen's "friends" that sounded the alarm and started talking nonsense. And even if we assume for just one second that some of this isn't nonsense, the timing definitely sucks. The man has asked to be left in peace, and it's funny how everybody all of a sudden starts pointing fingers and making outrageous statements and still claims to have Wilson's best interest at heart.

But back to our darling Courtney - and her big big appetite for...well, she has a big appetite for many things, gossip and causing scandal being two of the most prominent choices. And really, if good intentions are what made her speak up on behalf of her "good friend" Owen Wilson, then make sure this girl isn't trying to do you any favors, as you'll most likely end up in big trouble. Courtney has decided to take a stand and point the finger of blame for Owen's finally confirmed suicide attempt to his friend and well-known British actor Stephen Coogan. And while we may not have been entirely aware of Coogan's past - which is indeed littered with illicit affairs, bad marriages and a lot of drug-taking - the very idea of someone other than Wilson being "responsible" for his decision to try and end his own life is quite weird.

Wilson is recovering after allegedly slashing his wrists and swallowing a cocktail of illegal drugs, among which were crystal methamphetamines and OxyContin. Wilson and Coogan are close friends and have worked together on various projects. Love on the other hand was Coogan's lover and claims her ex boyfriend put her through the same ordeal as Wilson. "Under normal circumstances I wouldn't comment but I care too much about Owen" Love states. She is convinced Coogan is the one who fueled Wilson's drug addiction and made the hard partying, drug-taking lifestyle seem appealing to his younger friend. "I went through it with Steve", said Love. "I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends" she states.
What makes me wonder though is the fact that many people form Wilson's entourage have stated repeatedly that the actor's depression was not linked to his break-up from ex-lover Kate Hudson. In fact, Courtney Love's statements imply that Wilson's descent into drugs played its part in his break up from Hudson, who has recently been parading new boyfriend Dax Shepard. This does prove that Love may have a point with her claims - but I believe this was definitely not the best time in the world for starting such a controversy. And though she may have meant well, she definitely didn't do her pal Wilson any favors.
