The Order: 1886 will have as many quick-time events as necessary, according to developer Ready at Dawn, which has just emphasized that it's not trying to saturate the experience with such things.

Quick-time events, aka those moments where players need to press a button or perform an action by following an on-screen prompt for a certain amount of time, have been overused in quite a lot of games and, as such, lots of gamers just want to avoid them altogether.

While The Order: 1886, the upcoming third-person shooter from Ready at Dawn, uses such elements in its gameplay, it won't go overboard, according to the studio's Marc Turndorft, who talked with GamingBolt.

According to him, the studio is implementing as many QTEs as necessary so that the experience feels great.

"There are many kinds of QTEs. There are really compelling ones at the end of a boss battle or just a melee encounter which makes it more gratifying and gives it some branches which are really fun. Then there are some little things like opening a door and things like that."

"There are plenty in the game, as many as necessary but we don’t go crazy like 'Oh! It’s been 4 minutes, we don’t have a QTE, we need a QTE, ahh! What are we gonna do?!' It’s not like that. We tried to place them in compelling manners that users can really enjoy."

As such, don't expect to see constant quick-time events in the upcoming PS4 exclusive when it debuts next year.
