FASHION POLICE

The Olsen in the Creepy Plastic Mask

- The creepy mass-murderer look is back in fashion these days

By: Monica Gaza, Entertainment News Editor

Latest Hollywood must-have accessory: the white, creepy, phantom-of-the-opera-style mask that protects your precious celebrity face from the public glare and the ever-watchful eye of the photographers. If you think that "celebrity" and "hidden face" are antagonistic notions, think again. Apparently, there are some very famous (and very troubled, we might add) people out there who feel that showing their face to the world is a
little too much on the "giving" side, and have resorted to hiding their pretty features. Latest example? The petite Olsen twins, who attended a wedding over the weekend and hid their precious faces behind creepy white masks.

The interesting part is that it wasn't only the Olsens hiding away. As you can see, a whole group of black-clad ladies joined the twins in their endeavors, making the group look even more like a bunch of restless spirits prowling the streets, trying to steal unsuspecting people's souls. Trouble is, we do have a little controversy on our hands here. In their ever-raging fight against the intrusive paparazzi, some stars seem to forget that they mostly owe their current situation to the public at large, those pesky fans who buy their CDs, go to concerts, pay to see their movies and buy the clothes, books or any other products their idols endorse. Hiding their faces from the cameras is therefore... well, a two-faced scam (pun intended) that proves some celebs - the Olsens among them - have quite forgotten how much they owe to their fans.

This may not be the first time a celebrity goes over the top trying to hide from the camera, but it sure is just about the most creative "hide your face" solution we've seen in a while. Some stars tried hiding behind umbrellas (which were sometimes used to wreck paparazzi cars - no names will be given out), sneaking round the back doors of restaurants, wearing wigs or oversize sunglasses. The Olsens' solution, however, really seems to have done the trick, making the sisters look, if possible, even creepier than their usual selves. It's the newest, hottest Hollywood trend. So, have you got your own creepy mask yet?
