Developer BioWare says that the login process for its MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic will change starting with April 2. Players will no longer be able to use their e-mail address to access the game, this being replaced by the gamer’s display name.

The BioWare team states, “This new change to the log in procedure is being implemented for several reasons. This change increases the security of our game authentication system, which helps continue to keep the game protected from many security threats including account takeovers.”

Every player can learn their display name by visiting the official page of Star Wars: The Old Republic and looking in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage.

The BioWare MMO was launched in late 2011 and, since then, it has become free-to-play, allowing any interested player to explore a universe that sees constant battle between Sith and Jedi, Empire and Republic.
