United Kingdom and United States retailers are beginning to slash prices of the original Xbox 360 models with the new “S” one already starting to hit the store shelves. While Microsoft has not mentioned anything about a price cut for the old models, various online and brick-and-mortar stores are preparing to receive the newest one.

Amazon and Best Buy offer the older models of the Xbox 360 for 50 dollars less. This means that customers can purchase an Xbox 360 Elite for 250 dollars or an Xbox 360 Arcade for no more than 150 dollars. These price cuts are also available for the bundles that include games, so, for those who don't mind the red ring of death problem, this may be the time to acquire Microsoft's device.

Retailers in the UK are moving in the same direction, as the Xbox 360 Elite SKU's price drops to 150 pounds, while the Arcade model also goes down to 120 pounds. GAME, another UK store, is also offering other purchase options for the customers who want to acquire an old model of the Xbox 360. It is trying to cash in on the World Cup going on right now by selling an Xbox 360 Elite along with a copy of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa for only 170 pounds.

It is also worth noting that the Xbox 360 “S” is not even available for the moment in the United Kingdom, with its release across Europe coming on the 16th of July. The new model of Microsoft's console is boasting a slicker design, a smaller size and, most importantly, no more hardware problems. When overheating occurs, the device will turn itself off to avoid the damage that may be dealt to its components. This SKU will have the same price as the old Xbox 360s before it, that is, 300 dollars for the Elite model and 200 dollars for the Arcade model.
