A nifty headphone amplifier you can attach to your portable music player

NuForce Icon Mobile is one of the latest solutions when talking about great audio coming from pretty much any small portable device such as mobile phones, MP3 players, iPods and the like; it is a great response to one of the most common setbacks plaguing the world of music players - the absence of top-notch amplifiers.

Most of the portable digital players on the market these days share the same problem: the lack of pro-grade headphone amplifiers, generated by the space limitations and the power consumption issues as well.

Since pro-grade audio gear usually needs more power because of its more intricate internal design and special construction, embedding such a technology in our tiny MP3 players or cell phones would dramatically decrease the operating time on a single charge. That's why separate headphone amps have been developed, capable of providing both the audio quality discerning listeners have been looking for and the necessary “juice” to drive high-impedance headphones.

Small dimensions for this great headphone accessory

The Icon Mobile sports diminutive dimensions (88mm x 55mm x 12mm) and this makes it a nifty piece of technology able to complement any portable music player out there. You get a 3.5mm stereo input for easily hooking up any music source, a USB port with native 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz support for computer connection. A very cool thing is that the NuForce Icon Mobile comes with dual headphone outputs, with one of them supporting a mic headset, thus being suitable for conversation headsets when you're thinking Skype, Y Messenger and the like.

The rechargeable Li-ion battery will give you up to 13 hours of playback on a charge, while the gain selector and top-quality rotary volume control pot complete the functions array. Special iPod connectors and a translucent silicone strap for easily attaching the NuForce Icon Mobile to your player are also included in the accessory pack. The NuForce Icon Mobile will be available starting mid-December for $99.
