A brand new report has arrived concerning the Nintendo Wii U, this time saying that its hardware is twice as powerful as the Xbox 360.

As we get closer to the release of the Wii U, more and more rumors and reports are coming in about its hardware, its features and plenty of other things. Nintendo’s secrecy concerning its new home console hasn’t helped, as we’re still left with details that were originally revealed to the world back at E3 2011.

Until the final version of the console is going to be displayed in summer at E3 2012, new reports are hinting at the possible features and power of the device.

The newest one comes from Develop, which was contacted by a source from within a studio that’s now working on a game for the Wii U.

According to the report, the Wii U’s hardware makes it twice more powerful than Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Even so, it seems that some of the source’s colleagues haven’t been satisfied, with one of his managers having higher expectations from the new home console.

"I've heard [a project designer] complain it's underpowered compared to what Nintendo announced, resulting in people having to de-scale their plans," the source said.

According to the website, Nintendo’s tough non-disclosure agreements made it hard to confirm the report, so who knows just how powerful the Wii U is actually going to be as opposed to its rivals, the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3.

Last year, shortly after its announcement, quite a few companies began talking about the Wii U’s power, with some developers claiming it was 50 percent better than the current generation of high definition home consoles.

Until we hear the complete hardware configuration from Nintendo, however, it’s hard to say just how the Wii U will stack up against the PS3 or Xbox 360, so expect some more rumors until summer.
