When it comes to videogaming

Amazon, the biggest online retailer, has put out a list displaying the products customers were most interested in during 2009 and Nintendo-made hardware and software, mainly for the Wii home gaming console, dominate the list, showing that while sales of the device might have slowed down during the year that has just ended, the platform is still very much in demand.

Incredibly, no less than nine of the products in the top ten are related to the Nintendo Wii, with the console bundle itself being the best seller, followed by Wiimotes, needed for multiplayer fun, the Motion Plus add on, which aims to improve the motion tracking of the console, and the Nunchuk controller.

The first videogame to make it to the list is the recently outed New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii. The recent title, which allows four people to play alongside each other, is followed by Wii Fit Plus, packaged together with the Balance Board peripheral, and by Wii Sports Resort, which is being sold together with Motion Plus.

The first non-Nintendo-related videogame to come up in the Amazon chart is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from Infinity Ward and Activision, the first person shooter, which seems set to be the best sold videogame of 2009 overall. The top ten is closed down by Mario Kart Wii.

The first PlayStation 3-related product listed by the online retailer is the PS3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller. Wii Play is sitting in twelfth spot followed by Modern Warfare 2 for the Sony home gaming console and by the Nintendo Wheel. Assassin's Creed 2 from Ubisoft for the Xbox 360 is at 15, while Halo 3: ODST is at 16. The 120 GB version of the PlayStation 3 is next, followed by Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, EA Sports Active and Left 4 Dead 2.
