Get ready to enjoy the work of a real detective

Most of the DS games I've seen look like poor old cartoons for youngsters - and that is one of the reasons I'm not a huge fan of the portable console. However, I will never try to say that its (still) innovative two-screen format is anything sort of magic. Basically, there are so many revolutionary things that could be done by the game developers for the DS that I just wonder why they don't do them more often.

For example, the adventure/detective/crime investigation games are something that fit the Nintendo DS perfectly - games such as Hotel Dusk: Room 251 and Ace Attorney prove it. So it's no surprise that Empire Interactive will be publishing Now Production's detective adventure Unsolved Crimes on the Nintendo DS, promising to mix the thrills of an action game with the mental challenges of a 3D crime investigation. And take full advantage of the "two views" the portable console can offer.

In Unsolved Crimes you play the role of a young rookie detective in the Homicide division who must solve the mysterious kidnapping of an aspiring model called Betsy Blake. But, as any real detective, you will have a bit more than that: in addition to the on-going kidnapping case, you will have to solve eight more independent cases, just to be sure that you really understand that working as a detective is not really a piece of cake, as you see in the movies. Also, five action games (related to the main plot, this time) will be available.

Toshiaki Awamura, President of Now Production Company Limited said: "Now Production has created a highly, intuitive game that combines an interactive, realistic 3D environment, with compelling tests of the intellect. We fused Western and Japanese gaming elements to create a game that anyone who likes TV cop shows will enjoy - from more casual gamers, to the more experienced. We've developed a game we think is going to especially appeal to Western gamers."

The game promises to fully utilize Nintendo's dual screen and we really hope this will happen. Also, by using the stylus you will be able to trace marks, routes and memos on suspicious items discovered at crime scenes and many more. Now, all we have to do is to wait for the game to be launched, right?
