A job posting on Apple’s official website indicates that the company’s online store is to be revamped by a team of software engineers. The minimum required experience is 8 years (in a professional development environment), just to give readers an idea of how serious Apple is about whipping its online store into shape.

Not that it needs too many adjustments, but there’s always room for better at Apple, and the tech giant believes store.apple.com is next in line to get some sparkle.

“Help build the next-generation Apple Online Store!”, reads the job advertisement for Senior Software Engineer - Core Services.

“We are looking for highly motivated, creative and entrepreneurial Software Engineers to deliver projects aimed at advancing the hugely successful Apple Online Store,” Apple says.

“We are looking for senior-level engineers with demonstrated experience delivering advanced solutions in a multi-tier, distributed environment.”

“Do you enjoy building highly scalable, distributed web applications? Do you get excited about performance tuning java applications at the limits of memory and CPU? Do you enjoy working with other high output engineers? If so, then join our team and make a difference!” the motivational description adds.

As noted above, candidates are required a minimum of 8 years of experience in a professional development environment, in order to even consider applying for the job.

The new recruit would also need to have 4+ years of web application development experience, a strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals (such as data structures and algorithms), the ability to develop new and innovative applications while maintaining existing code, and strong experience with Java.

On the less-technological side, the applicant should pose skills like a demonstrated experience with architecting, developing and deploying high-volume, multi-tiered, distributed applications.

Strong problem solving and debugging, experience with ORM products and component based web application frameworks, etc., are also required.

Apple notes that Web Objects experience is a plus, as is the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams.

Education required includes BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or EE, or relevant industry experience. Apple prefers a person with a MS in Computer Science or related technical field, but this is not a requirement.
