Cleared of Proview trademark threat, Apple can begin selling

Speaking of new iPads, the one that Apple downright advertises as “the new iPad” is set to arrive in China next week, Friday, July 20th, according to an official news release from Cupertino.

Apple today updated its PR site with the confirmation that its third-generation tablet computer, dubbed “the new iPad,” is slated to make its Chinese debut (following a trademark spat with Proview Technologies) 10 days from now.

An excerpt from the press release says, “Apple today announced the new iPad, the third generation of its category defining mobile device, will arrive in China on Friday, July 20.”

The report continues with Apple touting the tablet’s amazing Retina display, the A5X chip with quad-core graphics, the 5 megapixel camera on the back (capable of shooting 1080p HD video), and the famous 10-hour battery life.

Editor's note One thing Apple could do better with their press releases - they could offer the prices in the appropriate currency.

Since the announcement is for the Chinese market, it would be quite thoughtful of the Cupertino giant to enumerate the prices in Renminbi / Yuan. Not that we couldn’t do the conversion ourselves, but we’re not the ones trying to sell these things.

Moving forward to where you can find a unit physically available when the time is right, Apple says, “In China the new iPad will be available through the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), select Apple Authorized Resellers and by reservation from Apple retail stores.”

The company has imposed reservation requests from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning Thursday, July 19 for pick up the following day (accepted daily).

Last but not least, Apple doesn’t forget to mention that its iPad 2 is now more affordable.

Apple is rumored to be planning a massacre in the tablet industry with the release of a fourth-generation iPad “mini” this autumn.
