It looks like Yamaha, one of the world's leading names in the audio industry, has not wasted time channeling all efforts towards innovation and products that are running with futuresque technologies, but have managed to affect a great deal of resources to revive the audiophile sector of the business. The two new pieces of equipment which are being announced these days are truly a bold statement for Yahama's commitment for bringing to life the pristine sound soothing any true music lovers' ears.

The two jewels are the SACD player codenamed CD-S2000 and the A-S2000 preamplifier, perfect for each other in the media rack of the audio connoisseur. Besides the intricate quality specs, the first thing you'll notice about these two units is the way they look, a perfect blend of modern touch with a strong essence of Hi-Fi olden days, with refined details and simple, function-oriented design and almost minimalist way to put things at their places.

The CD player comes in silver or black and can handle SACD/CD, MP3 and WMA tracks and runs with both analog and optical/coaxial digital and XLR connectors for versatile use. The amplifier can drive serious amounts of power: 2 x190W in 4 Ohms or 2 x 120W in 8 Ohms and everything is kept in the audiophile 20-20,000Hz full-range spectrum.

So far it seems like Yamaha plans to market these two as a package, aimed to the high-end audio gear markets, both in Japan and the rest of the world. The scheduled official release date is somewhere in December; do not worry about the time until the first units ship... if you plan to make yourself a neat Christmas present, the coming months will give you enough to save as much as $3,400 for the combination. $1,825 for the CD player and $1,540 for the amp. And yes, they're friggin' heavy: 38kg together!
