The timeline for “X-Men: Apocalypse” seems to be taking place in the past as well

The last “X-Men” movie took place in an alternate past in the 1970s and, from the looks of things, the producers are trying to keep the same concept for the sequel as well. Writer and producer for the project, Simon Kinberg, has made the revealing statement on Jeff Goldsmith's podcast.

If “Days of Future Past” was set in 1973, “Apocalypse” is going to take place ten years into the future, in 1983. It seems that the producers are following a 10-year pattern, because the previous movie in the franchise, “First Class,” was set in the 1960s, in 1962 to be more precise, right in the middle of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

While most of the details of the new movie remain a closely guarded secret, it's been revealed that James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are going to appear in the next movie to reprise their mutant roles.

Kinberg also revealed that some more of the original cast members from the first “X-Men” trilogy were going to appear in this movie, but he would not give more clues as to who they were.

Those who have seen “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in cinemas will remember that Cyclops and Jean Grey appeared right at the end of the movie, proving that the future was back to normal.
