They say that size doesn't matter but that's not true, at least not when it comes to mini HiFi systems – and the next thing from TEAC is indeed a small and compact one, perfect for those places where room is a premium requirement. The TEAC CR-H228i is due to start shipping any time now and it is in fact a miniature CD receiver with a totally cool design; if you're looking for a mini music system to pack high-class sound, nifty features and an overall top-drawer feeling about it, then this might be one of the best choices.
This CD receiver is equally suitable for your bedroom, living room and, of course, your office. Thanks to its diminutive footprint it can be installed in pretty much any corner of the residence, on shelves and tabletops as well as mantelpieces or the likes.
And with the classic and almost timeless design, the TEAC CR-H228i is easy to integrate in most settings and decors, conservative and modern alike. The 215 x 359 x 110 mm dimensions qualify it as a miniature music system, yet it packs a 2 x 30W RMS power amplifier that will easily fill a medium-sized room with a dense and powerful sound. Connectivity is rather good: you get a subwoofer out jack, 3 Aux Ins, card slot, Optical Out, headphone output as well as Tape Play and Tape Rec options. And, of course, a remote control.
You can attach a 75 Ohm antenna and an external AM one as well so you'll be in touch with your fav radio shows and stations. The optical drive handles CD and CD-RW discs with both MP3 and WMA support so as to best suit your needs. The LS-H240 iPod dock is sold separately, in case you feel like iPods are the only way to listen to your music. If you're thinking about a nifty Christmas gift, you should know that the TEAC CR-H228i will be available for around $550.
