Following the release of Sidekick LX Tony Hawk Limited Edition, T-Mobile, the fourth largest US carrier, has now released a brand new Sidekick handset, simply named "T-Mobile Sidekick".

Although the new Sidekick is not yet featured on T-Mo's website (only the Sidekick LX, Sidekick Slide and the Tony Hawk one being found there), the handset is available for purchase in the carrier's stores across the US. With a two-year contract agreement, you'll get to pay $150 for one unit.

The coolest thing about T-Mobile Sidekick is that it allows users to customize its look. For this T-Mobile has come up with a special Sidekick Shells website, where there are more than 100 models that you can buy (each for $14.99). There are eight categories of shells, from "fashion" and "sports" to "political" (a Barack Obama one is included here). Moreover, users can create their own design, with any color and pattern they like.

"There is perhaps nothing more important than someone's individual style and personality," commented Sajal Sahay, director of product marketing at T-Mobile USA. "The new T-Mobile Sidekick, with its customizable shells, lets our customers easily express that unique style directly on their phone. Providing our customers with options to stand out from the crowd and show a true expression of themselves is what makes this Sidekick such an intriguing, fun device."

As for the features of the new Sidekick, these include: a 2.6 inch display with 400 x 240 pixels, quad-band GMS connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, a full QWERTY keyboard, Web browser, Instant Messaging, email, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Music and Video players, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, myFaves, Quick Find, a 512MB memory card and so on.

The new Sidekick weighs 5.3 ounces (147 grams) and, when closed, it measures 4.7 x 2.3 x 0.7 inches (119 x 58 x 17.8 millimeters). The battery packed in the new Sidekick is a 1030 mAh one, but its performance is unknown for the moment.
