The New Steam for Linux Beta Client Fixes a Memory Leak

Valve has released another update for the Steam client

Valve has launched a new beta version for its Steam for Linux client, bringing a lot of interesting new features.

After a development version garners sufficient changes, Valve promotes it to stable. The work for the next beta starts almost immediately.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux beta update:

• A confirmation dialog is now provided when launching a game via a steam URL, with optional command line parameters;
• A memory leak that occurred when the user was hovering over URLs in the HTML control, has been fixed;
• The workshop items are now clearing the download status label when they register as completed;
• A crash that occurred when getting lots of friends updates, has been fixed.
