
Sony Ericsson has announced the K610im handset, its first GSM/UMTS phone to support i-mode. The i-mode service delivers
a whole new experience in connected mobile applications such as iMail, web browsing and iMMS. Viewing multimedia is faster and easier, thanks to Web pages and content specially formulated for i-mode. Lighter pages give faster download speeds and users are given access to a host of i-mode sites and content.

Besides the i-mode, the handset features a 2 megapixel camera with 2.5x digital zoom, capable of video recording, a media player supporting MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ formats and support for 1GB M2 Memory Sticks. A 1.9 inch TFT display is present, capable of showing a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels in 260k colors. Other specifications include Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity, Access NetFront Internet browser, full streaming audio and video, support for MFi and Mobile MP4, flight mode.
The K610im is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2006.
