As you may have heard, Apple has just a released a new iPod model. The incredibly beautiful, ultra-wearable and cleverly designed shuffle is immediately available in a 4GB form and two color models (black and silver) and costs $79.

Upon purchase, customers will find in the box the following items, Apple says: the iPod shuffle, Apple Earphones with Remote (no mic), iPod shuffle USB cable (used to sync with iTunes and recharge the device) and a Quick Start Guide.

The new shuffle is a clever iPod. It does VoiceOver (the same as Mac OS X), and is quite a looker. Only one physical control resides on the device itself, with the rest of the controls being placed on the headphone cord. But why don't we let the tech specs list speak for itself, just like the device does.

The new iPod shuffle needs to be connected to a computer in order to be filled with music. For example, Mac users are required to own a Mac that's running Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later and is equipped with a USB 2.0 port. iTunes 8.1 or later is also required, as is Broadband Internet access (fees may apply) and an iTunes Store account.

PC requirements include a USB 2.0 port, Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 3 or later), iTunes 8.1 or later, Broadband Internet access (fees may apply) and an iTunes Store account.
