Your boss's phone will definitely ring up in a meeting, screaming "I've had cock for breakfast"

Musical records companies are not only selling various artists' music and other merchandise but other "thingies" such as the former bestselling music ringtones made from cutting some of the best-recognizable parts in major hits.

Now, it's no secret that the ringtones sales are down the friggin' drain as people suddenly realized that once they've bought the album there is nothing that could prevent them from buying a ringtone maker or even creating brand new ringtones with dedicated freeware software. So, why paying for a song and then paying once more for the refrain in a phone-friendly format when you can actually make the ringtone suit your wishes out of the music you've already bought?

Now, since the market is rather going down, the ringtone-guys had to think of something quick. So the flingtones came up. Now, you look like you don't know what's a flingtone... lemme explain: a flingtone is something which might just make kids feel very, very cool as the principle is like this - the moment you call somebody, you can opt in for sending your own choice ringtone which will actually ring on the called phone.

Cool, huh? For a child maybe. For people who are really using the phone it ain't that cool at all. Leaving aside the undertitle and its content which I hope makes it very clear that the flingtone leaves room for abuse and it rather instigates for sick pranks...I think as a music lover: I have bought some rock albums and stored them in my phone for listening to them in certain situations. Now, why would I want to have someone making my phone play 50Cent or other music I really don't like?

Or, the simpler situation regarding music shopping: I have paid for my Cannibal Corpse ringtones, right? Since I've spent money on them it's most likely that I also intend to use them. So why should I listen to my phone playing other crap I hate while effectively loaded with crap I like?

Now, it's not only about mobile tech and music: it's about some guys who have invested quite a lot in this field and see now that the biz isn't going as planned at all. Nevertheless and despite their efforts I just don't see how many people would give up control over their mobile phones just to become embarrassed and annoyed...
