About the same specs, only subtle improvements

Given the fact that it is supposed to substitute the N95, which has already become an old model, thus losing precious ground, the N96 paints an overall better picture and, most importantly, keeps the respected and appreciated features of its predecessor. On top of that, the N96 also brings noticeable and most welcome improvements.

By comparing the two, especially in terms of size, it is obvious that they are “related.” After checking out the N96's measurements of 103x55x18mm as well, it becomes clear that there was no intention of creating an extra light or small device. Also, being bigger and slightly heavier than the N95, the manufacturers were able to built it in better quality, keeping the dual-slider keypad shape, but making it feel much more solid and tighter when using the slider. Moreover, it's a bit shinier and the lines are better constructed, making for a more appealing “panoramic” view of this device.

The 2.8'' (240x320 pixel) 16M color display really impresses by the light “show” it produces and the glossy finish, really making for a spectacular screen view. Also, the video call camera, which is front facing, has been very well designed and placed, contributing to the feeling that all is exactly where it should be.

The 5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss dual LED flash camera of this Nokia offers plenty of advanced and satisfactory technologies. In addition, the micro-USB port and the very popular 3.5mm jack have not been placed randomly on this device, but designed so as to make it quickly and easily to use. The keypad, however, is slightly unsatisfactory, enabling a not so pleasant typing experience, even if at first sight everything is placed correctly.

All in all, the N96 is more than worthy of replacing the N95, and likely to be even more appreciated or popular than its much praised predecessor. You can now relax knowing that such a mobile is going to be made available for you, should you consider owning one.
