The Movies You Should Never Ever See!

- Razzie Awards nominations announced

By: Elena Gorgan, Entertainment News Editor

As the Oscar fever is growing (nominations are to be announced today), the Razzies are already one step ahead of the Academy. As it is customary, the nominations for the worst products
Hollywood puts out each year (including worst films, actors, directors and screenplays) preceded those that honor la crème de la crème of cinematography.

Monday night, the nominations for the Golden Raspberries (or Razzies, as we best know them) were made public and we already can spot the winners in all the major categories: Sharon Stone and her 'Basic Instinct 2' and the remake of Jim Carey's 'The Mask', 'Son of the Mask' (obviously!) both got seven nominations a piece, while the Wayne brothers with 'Little Man' came up close. So that kind of narrows it down a bit, don't you think?

The big prize for worst actor/actress will not go this year to one single individual, as the nominations favor the Wayne brothers (Shawn and Marlon), for 'Little Man', and the Duff sisters (Hilary and Haylie), for 'Material Girls'. It's all about keeping things in the family and not making one sibling jealous if the other one wins, the Razzies founder John Wilson explains.

It came as no surprise that Sharon Stone was named again, since last year she topped all charts of worst movies of the year and the year's biggest box-office flops. She was named in such categories as worst actress and worst onscreen couple (that went to her 'lopsided breasts'), while 'Basic Instinct 2' was nominated worst picture of the year, Davis Thewlis worst supporting actor and Michael Caton-Jones worst director. 'She's what we call a Razzie repeat offender. Perhaps even a recidivist', Wilson told the media about his opinion of Stone's overall career.

Other movies that tormented the viewers in 2006 and were duly considered by the Razzies were 'The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause', 'The Shaggy Dog', 'Zoom', 'The Son of the Mask', 'The Wicker Man' (with Nicholas Cage), 'Employee of the Month' (starring Jessica Simpson) and 'Lady in the Water' (the movie that literally ruined M. Night Shayamalan's career and good reputation).

However, the biggest surprise this year was another 'repeat offender' who did not make the cut: Sylvester Stallone, who has 30 Razzie nominations and 10 wins all throughout his career, saved face in 2006 with 'Rocky Balboa' – a sequel that was warmly received by all audiences and earned him more than great reviews. 'At the first of the year, you could not have convinced me that it wasn't going to be a Razzie contender. I would like to publicly say that Stallone has made a good movie', Wilson said.

The big winners of the Razzie Awards will be announced on February 24, a day before the Oscars.
